The Birmingham Panthers Player Pathway
Developing future talent is at the heart of our mission to promote netball in the West Midlands. Through our Player Pathway, we provide an inclusive journey designed to help young players reach their potential, some becoming the NSL stars of the future.
How to Join the Pathway
The Birmingham Panthers Player Pathway is open to aspiring netballers across the West Midlands and Gloucestershire regions.
There are different ways players can enter the pathway, the main ones being:
Trials: We hold trials throughout the year for different age groups and programme levels. Information about upcoming trials, including dates and locations, is posted on our website and social media channels. Parents, coaches, and players can also subscribe to our newsletter to stay informed.
County Programmes and Clubs: We work closely with schools, county netball programmes, and clubs to spot emerging talent. Many players will be identified through their participation in these local systems.
Talent Scouts and Recommendations: Our scouts attend school matches, junior leagues, and community events across the region to identify players demonstrating exceptional potential.
Coaches, teachers, or parents can also contact us to request an assessment for a player, either through a match visit or by submitting a video of the player in action. Videos should showcase a range of skills and gameplay scenarios and provide context such as the age group and competition level.

A Comprehensive Pathway
Our Player Pathway begins at the grassroots level, working closely with schools, clubs, and county netball associations and this system is supported by our Emerging Talent Programmes (ETPs) and Player Development Programmes (PDPs), which provide a progression route for aspiring netballers.
Players selected have access to world-class coaching, resources, and opportunities to develop their skills.
We will strive to find talent wherever it exists, encouraging those from all backgrounds to achieve their potential within the sport, helping to make netball a more inclusive sport. Just as the Williams sisters, Tiger Woods, and Lewis Hamilton paved the way in their sports, we aim to provide opportunities for all young players to thrive in netball, regardless of background.
Building a Future for West Midlands Netball
Through our Player Pathway, we are committed to making our region a hub for elite netball talent. By fostering growth at every level and creating opportunities for players to shine, we aim to strengthen the sport locally and nationally.
